Book Review of 'Finding His Fated Mate'

So, I love that it's a curvy woman with a shifter, but I was disappointed that there isn't much description of her beyond "curvy" and "thick thighs". I would have liked to know approximate size of clothing, because even though clothing varies depending on where you get it from, a number can still give a somewhat accurate depiction of someone's size. Or it does for me.

This is supposed to be a 'love at first sight' kind of novel, which it does meet that, or at least lust at first sight. You get a feeling for the characters and what they look like, but you don't get an in-depth look at the town or the house. Totally fair, focus on the characters, but sometimes the scenery and that can give us a bigger connection to the character. I'd like to have read about Daisy exploring the town, possibly going to the bakery. Stuff like that.

And although Daisy tells Morgan her back story, you never hear him tell her his. The author gives some of his background at the beginning but beyond that you don't. We get to know him from the chapters it's kind of from his point of view, seeing his emotions and some of his thoughts, but you don't get as in depth with him as you do with Daisy. That's how I was left feeling, anyways.

The book is 57 pages, something I hadn't realized until I read the book in half an hour, but it does give you some good depth and insight to the characters. I was left wanting more world development and more one on one interaction of the main characters getting to know one another.

Overall, I rate it 3/5, with maybe a 1 for spice level. There's discussion and some description, but nothing that goes into super detail.

ARC Review of "Hello Heartbreaker"

Okay, so I have been thinking about how to word this review since I finished this book. First thing is first: this book is the best second chance love that I have read in a while.

There's a real build up of trust and having to show that there's a real change in character before either truly and fully commit to one another. It's also great because both Rhett and Mags have issues that they have to work through to be able to build their relationship.

I love the way the tension between them also builds, and all interactions feel so natural between them even when Mags doesn't want it to be that way. Understandably, but can't say why without giving away a big part of the book.

It's a great read and I don't think you'll want to put it down. Fantastic writing Kelsie!

Book Review of 'Teighan'

Teighan by Eryn Hawk, Book #2 in the Veiled City series.

Sweet, grumpy, sexy Teighan. I am 100% glad to have read his book, because his glares in Cair were enough to make we want more. The man has a heart of gold that he hides under the tough exterior of a hardened warrior. I'm not saying he isn't tough, protective, and will take action without hesitation.

I mean that he purposely hides a caring, nurturing side of himself beneath an exterior that purposely pushes people away. I think he's simply done it so long it's become a defensive mechanism he falls back on. If you've read Cair, you understand why because you've 'met' his father.

Flamboyant, sassy, slightly insecure Alex. He's strong but also weak, cowering to a mother that sees him as nothing more than a tool to use for gain. He's artistic and sarcastic and simply wonderful. His attitude will win you over just like it wins Teighan over.

He also hides a kinder side of himself underneath his sarcasm and mommy's money. He uses it to keep people away, but also because it's almost what's expected from him anymore. He doesn't hesitate to give it either.

It was wonderful to read the slow development between the two, and absolutely explosive when the tension finally exploded between them. You get to experience Teighan's very protective side while Alex shows just how well he can care for himself. He's never gonna be a damsel in distress lol.

The continued world building from the first book in the series is also astounding. I love the lengths the author goes to try to explain what's happening and what it looks like. They make it obvious that it's important.

10/10 recommend, 5 out of 5 stars, 3.5/4 out of 5 on the spice scale.

ARC Review of "Rock Fall"

Rock Fall by HB Jacks, #3 of the Monster Prey Mates series.

Jacks does not disappoint with this new book of the Monster Prey Mates series!

It's a little bit of a whirlwind with poor Andi being knocked up unexpectedly. I was shocked from the get go with that information! This book is a great continuation of the story from the first two books though.

Then we get to our trio of gargoyles, starting with Soldix and Rivak. I would love to be the jelly between them two. Unfortunately for me and luckily for Oscurr, the small gargoyle gets there first and becomes the cheese of that meat sandwich. I love how gargoyles immediately know who is supposed to be theirs though, like in their nest and that. It makes bonding with them easier, I'm sure, but it also gives them the ability to be protective without being overwhelming in a new relationship because it's almost expected.

Speaking of Oscurr, he is a cinnamon roll of a gargoyle that I want to cuddle. Anyone else?

My favorite thing of the book is how calm, gentle, and patient Soldix and Rivak are with Andi. They give her the necessary space she needs, especially since she's gone through a LOT in the last eight months or so. I'm sure it was hard to not do anything for her, too, especially since they knew what she needed before she did.

I don't want to give anything away, but I did almost cry and want to stop reading. Cause characters dying does that to me! But it's 100% worth the read and I promise you'll enjoy it. These books are typically fast paced, but you still get an amazing story with it.

Plus, it is definitely a 5/5 spice. <3

Book Review of "Bonfire Night"

Bonfire Night by HB Jacks

Read and finished on 10/31/2023 with review on 11/01/2023

Holy hotness, Jacks does it again.
This time, it's strictly M/M between a super-hot demon and a human.

First, I absolutely love the tension and hate that starts off between Ash and Guy. It quickly dissipates in the face of adversity and being banged up, but it's that kind of love-hate tension that makes you giggle a little bit. Or I do.

Second, the build-up of the story to the climax is just amazing. You're kept looped into what's going on, because it is action packed, but it's not so packed that you can't follow what's happening. The progression of the story feels natural, so much so that it was a surprise when I came to the end of the book.

This book is definitely faster paced than some of Jacks other books, but it was still a fabulous read. I enjoyed getting to find out more about Ash and his dealings as a demon, but I also really enjoyed Guy's background and getting to know where he comes from. Definitely a great pair! Together they're able to hold off what would have essentially been the apocalypse for humans. Love conquers all!

Great book to read on Halloween, too.
Spice: 5/5

ARC Review of "A Soul to Protect"

How to even start...  I read this as an ARC reader, and I finished the book a few days ago, but I've needed time to put my thoughts to...
